What is the difference between a TACO made today and one made in the 60's and early 70's?

Answer: Not much ... We use a better material for the frames but they are still crushed the same way, cut the same way and welded in the same fashion as they did back when we were kids. The fork springs are the same, the seat has the same exact pattern used then, we use Hunt Wilde grips, and Tony over at Azusa the same supplier used back then is still supplying TACO with some of the very same products today.

Why can't I get a TACO delivered to me here in CALIFORNIA with an engine in it?

Answer: There are 2 answers to this question. The first answer is you can. We can put a completly refurbished Briggs & Stratton or Tecumseh engine of that time period or a little newer into your new TACO. By doing this we get around the EPA and all their crazy rules surrounding emissions.  The second answer is we can hook you up with THE SMALL ENGINE WAREHOUSE ... They can hook you up with an engine. There are four bolts involved in the installation a chain and a clutch cover.

Didn't all TACO's come with Briggs & Stratton engines?

Answer: No. It depends on the model. At one point is the late 60's Briggs & Stratton got out of supplying TACO with engines and Tecumseh became the official engine of TACO ... However there were other models like the 55 that came with the West Bend engine in them. The F85 Matterhorn came with a 6.5 HP Zundapp.

What is the original color PURPLE used on the TACO's?

Answer: Great question. I have 3 original TACO's each with original color on them and each one of them is a different shade of purple. I have found that back then a lot of the manufactures used what ever color they had on hand. TACO is famous for being PURPLE , we have found that there we a few different shades of purple used back then.

Why are TACO's still so popular?

Answer: Don't know. But they are. TACO's were truly at the beginning of the whole Moto Cross era. A lot of kids who went on to race started on TACO Mini Bikes and then moved onto Elsinores or Yamaha's etc. Why are TACO's so popular? I think that they bring back the kid in all of us. They take us back to a time when things were much simplier, less stress and less worry. They are just fun!!!
